The first warm, sunny work day in spring...
...is perfect for playing lunch hour bocce ball with coworkers. The only thing better would have been sipping wine while we played, mais hélas, we do not live in Europe. My team won 17-13: rock!

The woman tossing the ball is my friend Anne R. We met in grad school. Before working together at the Legal Behemoth, we were coworkers at the Accounting Behemoth. We met our husbands and got engaged & married within months of each other. We've known each other a looooooong time.

Ooooo, yay!!!

I need to get myself a bocce ball set. It was one of my favorite things to do at my grandparents' house, when I was a kid.

That, and Jarts. The real kind, that actually made you fear for your life when you played! (;

I remember Jarts! Those were the good old days, when games could kill! Though, true to my nerdly nature I used to pretend the Jarts were spaceships and I'd have space-wars. Yes, sad- I know.

I loved Jarts too. My parents tossed them after the CPSC banned them though. The new safer Jarts don't look nearly as fun.

Seriously! I mean, a rounded weeble-wobble end? There's no motivation to develop coordination when your life isn't in danger.

I think my parents still have ours stashed somewhere in their basement.

They're trying to downsize and move house, though, so perhaps I should tell my mom to hang onto them if she finds them. (She's going on a pitching spree, and it's freaking me the heck out! She said the realtor thinks all of my books that I haven't brought over here, yet (stacked on a pretty wrought-metal bookshelf in my old bedroom) are crap, as well as some of the other keepsakes that I have in boxes, in a closet. She was also going to toss my great grandmother's antique Singer!!!11!eleventy1!
